A day of food
Lunch club was a happy affair once again and everyone enjoyed one or other of the two homemade soups on offer: minestrone containing rice instead of pasta to ensure that it was gluten free, and pea and courgette with a hint of mint. This was followed by Eton Mess which went down a treat. The meal was rounded off with coffee or tea and a homemade shortbread biscuit.
Once Bertie had a walk the rest of the afternoon passed in a flash and it was time to get ready to go out. Four of us had been invited out for a meal at the Bellachroy by the lovely Lucy’s temporary carers. I loved my main course of salmon served with a crab arancini (a sort of fish cake containing rice) in a prawn bisque. And what a surprise for the tastebuds when I tasted the deliciously wobbly blackcurrant jelly that was part of the deconstructed trifle! We were all agreed that we should try to recreate this with our homegrown blackcurrants.
Sorry, no photos of any of this delicious food that I have written about. Instead, there is the backlit foxglove that I came across during our woodland walk.
