Hop & a skip!

This is a dingy skipper on Birds foot trefoil (eggs & bacon) & I've never knowingly seen one before until today on the opening of this new AMAZING Devon Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve of Meeth Quarry it left me speechless, so much - from wood white butterflies (rare but in their hundreds there), 14 species so far of dragonfly, barn owls, black caps, willow warblers, chiff chaffs, green woodpecker (yaffles), scores of wildflowers - small copper butterflies, common blues, brimstones, orange tips. Saw a fox moth caterpillar. Heard that adders have been recorded, grass snakes & slow worms. Long eared bats, lesser horseshoes & pips. Massive clay pits now two huge lakes. 400 hectares, a mile & a half wide. Old relics of the quarry, including the old warehouses full of nesting birds. Have I painted a good picture? Well think of that & then think hundred times better & you've just about imagined how STUNNING it is! :)

And Larry? he's always stunning...

Hungry bird

Beautiful weather today, so warm & sunny! No gym, knee still bad, but am determined to go tomorrow & just do the cross trainer, walk on the treadmill then finish on the rower - stay far away from the bike! :) xxx
