Oyez! Oyez! Oyez!
The town crier was earning his keep (or maybe his spurs?) today in Northleach, leading the annual Charter Fair procession. He wasn't on his own by the way. Just behind him was a fire engine , and then a procession of children.
We popped down to the playing fields this morning to check it all out. Lots of rides, bouncy castles and slides for the children and quite a few stalls, but nothing much in the way of 'events'. I was looking at some old photos from earlier in our time here. Back in 2005 it was a 'Country Fair' and there were parachute displays, a dog show, a tug of war, chariot racing and falconry displays. Nothing like that this year, or in recent years, but we did get some very tasty fish and chips for lunch, which we brought home and ate on the patio.
There is live music this afternoon and evening so we may go back to sample some of that.
Update: extra added from this evening, Chapter 99. Note the Steam Show dates!
In other news we discovered yesterday that we have not one but two hedgehogs. I was doing some late watering and there was a real racket coming from the hedgehog house. I lifted the lid up and the two of them were side by side, eating from the bowl. However five minutes later there was even more noise and they seemed to be fighting outside the house. The larger of the two scuttled off, while the smaller one carried on eating and drinking. And still making a lot of noise.
