June 24
An early start again this morning as I wanted to stop a Miners Marsh on my way thru the valley today.
The highlight of my walk there was seeing this snapping turtle laying some eggs.
The yellow warblers were singing. The Baltimore oriole pair was feeding their babies. I, along with several others, watched the pair flying from the nest to a nearby tree and back again. The tree swallows were also busy with their babies. Two of them had their mouths open at the hole in the nesting box until Mama came back with some food and tucked them back into the box. The red winged black birds were flitting around the cat tails. There was a toad on the trail, just sitting there. There was the usual chatting back and forth with other photographers. A few people I spoke to said it was their first time there, including a Mennonite family from the area.
I stopped at a couple of my usual stops before heading further up the valley. A friend of mine sells plants, and he had some water hyacinth and water lettuce for sale. I have to stop there every June to get some water hyacinth for one of my clients. Another woman I know saw that I commented to G that I was going there today, and she asked me to pick some up for her too. There is also a nursery in the area that has a good selection and even better prices, so I stopped there to get some plants for a job this week.
I was on the road this morning by 7:45 and home just after 5 pm.
