1969 Sunday — Preparing Dinner

(I am “back-blipping” as I dismantle old photo albums) today is June 24, 2023

Twelve days earlier than this photo on New Year’s Eve, December 31st, I had given birth to our second child (our first and only daughter). I named her after my best friend in high school, Deidre Anne. My girlfriend always went by Dede; so did our daughter until late in her teens when she went to work and the man interviewing her, who became her boss, said quite nonchalantly, “I can’t believe that you have such a beautiful first name and you don’t use it.” Since then she has always introduced herself as Deidre (pronounced Dee-dra). All the people who knew her as a kid still call her Dede.

The kitchen I am standing in in this photo is in the SoCal home that we live in currently when we are in SoCal. The stove and all the cabinets have been replaced. It is quite a blast from the past to see this photo.
