Border sky
After breakfast at the hotel we walked the short distance to the flat. MrM made a couple of trips to the tip with the old fridge and the last of the junk from the workshop, and loaded the last of our belongings into the van. I tidied in the 'yard and watered the plants we've left for the new occupants - it would have been impossible to move the roses and other large shrubs down to Yorkshire. Unfortunately, in our absence they've suffered from the recent lack of rain, but will hopefully revive.
The purchasers arrived with a measuring tape and a list of questions. Interesting to compare notes with them, as it seems their 'new' solicitor (the original one apparently left the firm) hasn't been very communicative. They stayed longer than anticipated, and as soon as they'd left I popped into the estate agents to update them. Then we locked up and drove round to Jacqui's, calling in to the shop to buy restorative ice creams on the way. After tea and biscuits - as well as the ice creams - and a long chat, we said our goodbyes.
Back to Yorkshire via the Scottish Borders and Corbridge. A very long way round, but very scenic, ostensibly to avoid heavy traffic and roadworks on the A1! In Holmfirm around 10.00pm, rather later than intended!
Imho there's something special about the sky in north Northumberland and the Scottish Borders - and the Highlands too - a clarity that doesn't exist in heavily populated areas where there's always some element of pollution of one sort or another. The Blip was taken on the Scottish side of the Border, near the site of some Roman camps.
