Lt. Herbert Kevill-Davies
Back-blip3
A day at Croft Castle in Herefordshire, walking up to the Iron Age Hillfort of Croft Ambrey and around the estate. The view into the Shropshire Hills was going to be my blip but then I went into the church of St Michael and All Angels and saw the magnificent stained glass east window. The window is a memorial to Lt. Herbert Kevill-Davies of the 7th Hussars who died on 15th May 1915 from wounds received at the Battle of Ypres. The window has all the characteristics of Charles Kempe but was commissioned in the 1920s (Kempe died in 1907) so I think it must be from the Kempe Studios.
