Who Will Buy

Surprisingly, quite a few people actually! I’ll put it down to a combination of Mrs C’s winning smile and sales patter (or the ridiculously low prices we were asking for everything.)
With the weather set to break this afternoon, and having had the luxury of an afternoon gig yesterday (and therefore the chance of an early night), we bit the bullet and got up early to do a car boot sale this morning. Two to choose from in Kendal today, and we opted for the “closest to home” option at the school. A wise choice as it turned out, as those who went to both said there were only about four cars at the Rugby Club!
We didn’t have lots of cars where we were, but there were quite a few people around. Trade could probably best be described as “steady away” with regular small sales. When the clouds started to gather late morning, everyone started packing away around 11.30 (supposed to be there until 1pm) and we were pleased that we had a lot less to put away than we had arrived with - which was the main purpose of the exercise! Having cleared four properties in the last five years, we have an awful lot of surplus “stuff” in our small bungalow, but the pile is gradually going down and won’t be added to anytime soon.
Our small profit soon disappeared once we’d been into town to have some lunch but, hey, “easy come, easy go” has always sort of been our attitude to any small windfalls.
Hoping to having a bit of a nap before settling down to watch Elton at Glastonbury tonight and I suppose I really ought to empty the car at some point and put everything away ready for the next car boot - whenever that might be.
