Hanau
We had another visit to Hanau today. Caspar needed a canine surgery, because his bottom canines grow behind his top canines.
One of both is now next to the top one, so there was no need to do anything. The other one though was making a little dent in his upper jaw. Still small, but with Caspar still growing this could cause a real hole.
The surgery took approximately 8mm of the canine away, with a filling of the pulp hole (like a sort of cork on a bottle).
Caspar took it like big boy. The surgery was this morning, he was back to normal in the evening.
Hanau is the city of the Brothers Grimm. These gents (see the extra for a statue of them) were very important for the collection of folk tales. Many of them have been used for films, especially Walt Disney's.
Another interesting building is the remnants of the Walloon-Dutch church. Walloon and Dutch Calvinist refugees came to Hanau during the Spanish occupation of the Netherlands, late 16th, early 17th century.
The church was in two parts, a Walloon (French-speaking) and a Dutch part. During the second world war the church (as nearly all of Hanau) was destroyed. After the war only the (smaller) Dutch part was rebuilt. The Walloon-Dutch reformed community still exists today.
