Fried Green Tomatoes!

A limb fell off one of Johnny’s tomato plants and we could not waste the green tomatoes! The plants are so heavy with fruit! He does such a great job growing them!
Fried green tomatoes are a southern treat. We don’t fry food often but a fried green tomato is a must in the summer down here. I simply slice them thinly, dredge in a flour/cornmeal combo, dip in buttermilk, dredge a second time in the flour mixture and into the hot oil. I used avocado oil. I also cooked corn from the freezer. After I had fixed J’s plate and took the photo, I dropped the whole glass bowl of corn on the floor and shattered it! :—) He shared his with me. I hated I dropped it. I do love corn! Oh well. Easy come, easy go.
