Traffic jam

Had a good night sleep and woke feeling much better. Too much rain yesterday?

Considered booking on the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale on Skye to visit the fairy pools but decided a local walk would be better. Made up sandwiches and packed a lunch to take with us and headed off to the village by car.

Mr PHL had searched out a route on the map and I really enjoyed being outdoors but could have done with a little less rough ground, hills and bracken.

The path almost disappeared at one point but we managed to find our way past the Black Loch to Camas Ghaoideil (translates to cheekbone which must be to do with the shape?), a very stony beach. Enjoyed sitting in the sun having lunch and throwing balls for my crazy dog who normally doesn’t fetch!

The return leg felt shorter but actually took longer, weird. We popped into the Land and Sea museum for a bit on our return to the car and then headed back to the site.

It was sunny and a wee bit blowy so I did a washing and got it pegged out whilst sitting out the waste water and generally tidying up. We cooked a couple of steaks on the BBQ and I watched some of the Elton John set from Glastonbury whilst sorting out the veg and potato accompaniments.

As we’d walked over 8km (5 miles) and with all my trekking about on site I was close to 9 miles by dinner time we didn’t stress too much that our dinner was many more calories than usual. Counting what we eat is paying off and I’m choosing more wisely. My shorts fit much better too.

Backblipped Tuesday for Monday
