Salisbury

Last full day camper vanning and an opportunity to spend the day in Salisbury where we met, married and had the three kids. The foundation stones for this magnificent building were laid in 1220 and it wasn’t until over 100 years later that it was completed. The thought of hundreds of people who started building and many after that never actually saw the finished article is definitely something to ponder.

We spent the time enjoying the Salisbury Charter market which started in 1227 - so just as the first stones were being laid for the Cathedral. Lunch was good at the Wig and Quill pub where we sat out in the garden and ate fish and chips. We walked down and back to Salisbury about a 4 and half mile jaunt and not surprisingly accomplished 15,000 steps.

Tired and laden with Teabags and other assorted small last day purchases we finished the Guardian quick crossword, did Duolingo and now I’m busy posting another chapter of my latest audiobook podcast that I recorded before we left so I could post them every so often. Opera Vox Audiobooks.

Packing up and depositing the van tomorrow before heading to a hotel at Heathrow. Sad to be going back - there are things to look forward to there but this has felt more than ever like home. We’ll have to see what the future holds.

As a humorous addition to our wanderings the extra is of a Salisbury barber shop with an unusual sign. L popped in to ask the woman cutting hair why the sign was upside down. She said “to attract attention….it obviously works!”
