Down the docks
Today was the day that had been several months in the planning. Fourteen people went to Bristol in four cars, and thirteen got on a boat and motored down the Avon Gorge towards the mouth of the river. The fourteenth person decided not to go down the steps to the boat, but had a good day out and said that it definitely wasn't wasted.
No one drowned, I didn't kill anyone, the books balanced (three cancelled but paid anyway), and I think everyone had an enjoyable experience. The weather was overcast, but considering we had some 90 year olds on board, I was glad that there was no risk of sunstroke or overheating. The original recce for this trip was made in October 2019, so we waited literally years to get there. Annoyingly, I did not post an entry that day. I'm glad to say though that the boat we travelled on today was not fully enclosed and we had great views from the bows.
For the record: I'm setting up a WhatsApp group to make communication between group members easier. Next big trip will be by minibus. Organizing four separate drivers, and planning car shares, is very time consuming. The traffic was awful on the way down, and no one enjoyed navigating to the floating harbour.
