Missed Focus
A rare sighting of a female northern cardinal stopping ever so briefly on a wire cage protecting a new tree planting. Unfortunately the camera focused on the wire in front of the bird and I didn't get chance to adjust manually before it departed. Although they are more noticeable earlier in the season, I haven't seen one for a long while.
The wire cages protect the saplings from deer browsing.
I often spend too much time focusing, adjusting exposure and levelling that I miss the shot. Perhaps missing focus once in a while is not so bad.
