Royalist or Roundhead?
"Daddy, what side were you on in the civil war? Royalist or Roundhead?"
"Well son, the wig kind of sealed it for me..."
Spent a beautiful couple of hours strolling by the river at Grassington. Sat and watched the flights of swifts, swallows and sandmartins as they dipped and dived. Were joined by a little terrior who fetched stones from the river. Big stones!
Watched the ducklings panic when their mother flew off to escape the amorous male ducks, and then quacked in relief when she returned at last. Ate icecream and met this most extraordinary sheep. Must be a candidate for a new National Park pinup sheep surely?!! Just loved the flowing locks - looking for all the world like Charles I.
In other news, it is Trailtrekker weekend. A bumper crop of teams walking through the night across the Yorkshire Dales (100km in under 30 hours) to raise money for Oxfam. All except one team, Phyl's Little Soldiers who have just finished in 13 hours. 13 HOURS PEEPS!!! Superhuman or what? Follow the mere mortal teams' progress here another perfect weekend for it. Almost wish I was doing it again... now, where's that wine?
