50 brides

I attended a special event at our church this afternoon to raise funds for Christian Aid and helped out taking some informal photos. It was a celebration of around 50 wedding dresses and outfits from 1895 to 2012. 40 were modelled, some by the bride herself. Some by daughters or granddaughters.

The oldest that could be worn was this 1938 dress made from Ayrshire lace. Those attending also entered into the spirit by getting dressed up. The sun even shone at the "reception" afterwards. The organisers don't yet know what's been raised: I'd guess a few thousand pounds. A successful couple of hours - preceded by a lot of planning by a few.
