Goodnestone Park gardens
Backblip
We went out quite early. First to Sainsbury’s as David wanted to see if there were any shorts. There were and he came out with a nice shirt too.
On to Deerton where my Dad is buried. It’s a natural burial ground so always full of wildlife. A few butterflies around including a marbled white , a first for my Mum. Plenty of long grasses and wildflowers.
We then drove to Goodnestone. A very pretty village close to Canterbury.
We had a look at the church which had some interesting articles including several carvings and a very old flag. The Verger was there so we had a chat to her. She lives just a few doors down from the church.
I had planned to eat in the pub there but it did not open until 4pm and the cafe is shut on a Monday and Tuesday too. Mike found a pub kess then 5 minutes away, The Griffin's head. We went by a white windmill on the way and fields lined with poppies.
A very good meal. I shared a burger and steak and mushroom pie with David, Mike had pie and my Mum had prawn cocktail. We all had a pudding as well :)
On to the gardens for a wander in the sunshine. Some lovely plants and lots of benches to sit and admire the views.
There were several dragonflies and damselflies on the pond. They were laying eggs and there were the cases of newly hatched ones along the edge.
Mike went out to Wickes when we got back to get some wasp powder as we spotted a nest near the top window and also some sealant for the bathroom.
