Mountain Railway
Not quite.
A very rough looking day with strong winds and heavy rain showers this morning so we settled for the Mining Museum at Threlkeld and caught the bus from outside the campsite. Coffee and tea bread at the Community Cafe before setting off towards the Mining Museum. Despite the best efforts of the trustees to keep the location a secret we still managed to find it. When quizzed about the lack of signs the volunteer on the desk blamed the Park Authority for taking them down and demanding £4000 a sign to put them back.
Anyway a distinctly quirky place with dozens of rusting RB excavators and a quarry railway. Not in steam today but the diesel engine had a certain Je ne sais quoi and we had a chuckle with the guard.
Back to a very late and rather large roast lunch at the Horse and Farrier before catching the bus back.
Got into the caravan just in time - now lashing down with rain again.
