Scandal in The Long Room

Today was day 5 in the second test and it really was a great and memorable day. The big moment occurred after drinks in the morning session when Bairstow left his crease at the conclusion of an over, only to have the keeper Carey throw down the stumps. I won't analyse the ethics of it all, but the upshot was a lot of booing and a prolonged period of sarcastic banter coming from the top level of the members. I was told that this was unprecedented and against club rules, so decided to go down and stand in the long room for the players return at lunch, expecting to see fireworks. Much has since been said in the media about the scandelous abuse dished out to the Australian players. However, fun as it was, I didn't witnesses anything shocking by our (perhaps slightly less restrained) Australian standards. There's a strict no phones or cameras policy in the members pavilion so I had to be careful. Men in white blazers appear from nowhere if you get your phone out, and I'd already been busted twice during the test. Although I appreciate and am respectful of the clubs high standards, I knew mum would expect me to make an attempt, and I got away with a photo in the tumult. I'm back with Henry again for the night. He's pretty miserable the poor boy, but stable.
