Racing down the river
So what are those yellow things? Ducks of course!
It was the annual Holmfirth Duck Race this afternoon and, as I'd bought a few ducks, I persuaded MrM to walk in to town to witness the spectacle. We'd failed to realised how popular it would be - thousands of people around the bridge where the ducks were launched in to the river, and lining the river banks. We found a spot where we could just about see the river through the trees, and waited for the first few ducks to 'swim' past. Decided against following the crowds to the park to see the ducks reaching the finishing line, but judging from the music there was a carnival atmosphere. A fun family event!
A very nice late-afternoon Sunday lunch at the Boshaw Trout. Back home for a short while before Jimmy arrived bearing gifts - fresh produce from his garden and some white foxgloves for ours. We all went down to the Nook for a music session - much better than the last time we went!
