The teenager was still reluctant but there was no choice but to persevere. Trinity College for a tour from a chatty student who hid the lack of substance in his talk very well - we ducked the queue for the Book of Kells and headed off to wander slightly aimlessly about the town. Things perked up with a pavement cafe lunch, a wonderful bookshop and a feeling of finding a bit of town where actual locals go. Back to Trinity to pay our dues to those 8th century monks and to marvel at the old library. Exit through the gift shop as to be expected.

Home for some, onwards to london for me. My short tour of budget airlines continues... though Ryanair does make you feel that you might be chucked off the flight at any minute - you can only relax when the plane actually starts taxiing.
