Fairy Umbrella
We've had so much rain, for weeks. Of course, that's good for the Fungi and they are sprouting everywhere. This is a wee "fairy umbrella" in the garden. Well, that's what we called them when I was young. I haven't seen one in my yard in years. I believe it is a type of ink cap, Parasola plicatilis, also called Japanese umbrellas. They do look like the delicate paper umbrellas I saw in Japan when I was there. They are very tiny, maybe 3-4 inches tall with a very thin stem. They last only about 24 hours so I was lucky to see this one. Gift#184: a new mushroom in the garden.
