Wet dog ...
A day spent hanging the plastic sheets up round the silage pit walls. This means me doing acrobatics along the top of the the pit wall while Kev hands me up the sheet and baler twine. Then we have to put small straw bales along the bottom of the sheet to hold it in place.
And as usual ,not a puff of wind until you start the job.
Had an inspection from a lassie from Borders Council on behalf of The Food Standards Agency. So a walk round the place, lots of questions then a look at all the various paperwork and records we have to keep. Wouldn't be so bad,but this is the 4th inspection from various officials we have had this year, and they all go through the same records and paperwork. Wouldn't it be nice if they all spoke to each other and one inspection would do the job . Mind you ,that would be too simple.
Any way,by the time she went,Kev had buggered off home,so had to finish the silage pit myself. Then the heavens opened. Have just emptied the rain guage and we have had 25 mm( an inch in old money ) in about an hour. So the grass I cut yesterday will be a while before it dries out enough to bale.
Ho hum......
Headed off down the road to feed heifers, and my co pilot was looking rather soggy.
