he's tiny and kind of ugly

He's a meadow spittlebug.But at least he isn't a Japanese beetle! They have started to appear. Going around the yard dropping as many aspkossible is soapy water was how I found this little , and I do mean little, guy. I don't think he was much bigger than a quarter inch. 
The extra is a much cuter Asian lady bug. Not a native 9 spot but those are rare, I believe I have seen one total. Still any bug that eats aphids is a friend of mine. Too bad they don't eat beetles.
