a lifetime burning

Food pass

This morning was blustery and showery on the levels, but it was good to be out of the house with the camera and the long lens, although I did get caught in some quite heavy showers at one stage.

My blip is of the Marsh Harriers and shows Mum passing food to Junior.  As you can see from those claws it's a potentially dangerous manoeuvre as junior is more focused on breakfast than the damage he might accidentally do to Mum. If you look in large I think you should just about be able to see the spray of water that's come off Junior's tale feathers as he launches himself out of the reeds to meet Mum.

On this occasion Junior was a little too keen and ended up tearing the food out of his Mum's claws, with the result that it got shredded in the process.

The birds in the main were some distance away so the shot suffers from some atmospheric haze, but its not often you get to see and take a photo of this sort of thing.

The extra is of Dad banking  at low level in front of and reasonably close to me.
