Salt Mill by Hockney

There was a lot to take in, what with vast areas of the factory given over to sales of books and craft material, jewellery, home wares, antiques and the essential cafe, before any history of the Titus Salt empire became evident. In fact very few relevant artefacts were in evidence.

David Hockney was influential in setting up the present arrangement after the manufacturing side of the business had failed, largely due to oversees competition. This painting of the main entrance by him hangs in an upper gallery and I was able to catch the photo as the lights were being turned off to inform us that the gallery was closed for the day. Many more of his paintings are on display elsewhere. Sorry about the funny angle, taken to avoid reflections.

And, out of this vast array goodies on offer, what treasure do I take home? A pair of ballpoint pens made from recycled plastic (£3.99) and some lino for lino-cutting (£5).

Apologies for the paucity of information but I shall add links once home.
