London
This is a very late posting.
We thought we would walk to the Tate Modern today, but didn’t quite make it. We only got as far as Gabriel’s Wharf, where we stopped for a bite to eat and decided that we’d give the Tate a miss as we didn’t have time to do it justice and go back to the hotel for a rest before going out for dinner. It was a lovely walk along Cromwell Road, Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, The Mall, Green Park, Piccadilly, across the Jubilee Bridge and along the South Bank - so much to see and admire. We wandered around Divertimenti admiring the crockery and all the gadgets we don’t need. - such fun. We called in to The King’s Head on our way to the hotel, as it was MrMacD’s last opportunity for a pint of London Pride. After a brief rest at the hotel we changed and walked to the Bombay Brasserie where we had a delicious meal in lovely surroundings - a fitting end to our wonderful, enjoyable, very special trip through the UK. We managed to walk 10kms overall today.
Apologies, but I am still way behind dipping into fellow Blippers’ journals and responding to comments. I’ve managed to post a couple of blips, but haven’t had time for anything else.
The blip shows Reception and the bedroom wall in the hotel (top left and bottom right); two blue plaques; a notice on Albert Bridge; the Peace Pagoda; a sculpture outside Battersea Power Station; a building on Cheyne Walk; a map of the UK made out of door handles; shots of Battersea Power Station; and the sign outside The King’s Head.
