Future in Flames

Only the occasional noise from the street could be faintly heard as she sat feet up on the sofa book in hand. Her mind kept drifting from the storyline to her current worries. It was an easy read, the book was done and dusted in about four hours, but still her worries stayed with her.
The cold, empty fireplace seemed to remind her of how she felt at times...in need of a top layer of soot scrubbed off. Yet deep down she knew that under the soot, after the debris had been cleared, once the fire was lit once more all of her worries would just melt away like the dew in the morning sunshine. Tomorrow is another day.
