Little

Not Far Away!

I took some clay over to Ruth a little while back.  It was taking her to a pottery morning for parents and children, about twenty years ago, that got me started.   She's been making micro-pots!   So cute.  These have already been bisque fired but may or may not have their final firing before Ruth goes home on Monday.  The three larger pieces are mine, the central one quick build at the end of a pottery evening a few weeks ago while waiting for a friend to finish.  The others I took a bit more time over.  They could be fired this weekend .... something to look forward to :-)

A busy day dominated by another problem with the singing group.   This time I am guilty of setting todays chain of events in motion although it was more putting my hand in the fire before someone else burnt the house down.   It's always hardest resolving problems where the initiator has good intentions and not a clue that their attitude or behaviour is causing other people great discomfit.   After trying more subtle approaches for a while I, perhaps for the second time in the day, lost my cool somewhat and politely told the person that their actions were unwanted and please stop now.  No surprise that the plea fell on deaf ears, setting off more lengthy diatribes.  This morning, supported by the other coordinators I saw what I had started through to it's conclusion. The individual choosing to leave the group made it easier to move on but there was much gentle repair work done as we worked to see if everyone else wanted to give it one more try.   Ultimately, we have enough folk left to give it one more try.   Without our most vocal members the young man who just started coaching us will have a much better chance to establish himself and we might yet see roses of success grow from the ashes of disaster.   My first trip to the cinema, aged eight, was to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.   Some will recall Lionel Jeffries song misquoted here :-)

A couple of helpful appointments for Jamie this afternoon, one in Dolgellau, a meet up with a friend, an evening at pottery with Ruth and a warm, dusk dog walk filled all the gaps!
