Spring high tide at Brancaster Staithe
Rain was forecast both yesterday and today, but other than a few drops yesterday we have had no rain and it has been warm and muggy again today. My neck felt a bit better today, at it's usual level of stiffness and discomfort and not as bad as yesterday. I spent time doing stretches and exercises this morning with resistance bands and weights, while Gavin took Xena for a run.
After breakfast we went to the harbour and it was high tide, again there was a flurry of activity with boats, canoes, kayaks and SUP boards. There was no wind so I think the sailors would have had a tricky time getting anywhere without a motor. Gavin took his drone up over the boats as he really needs to practise and learn how to use it, and has not had much opportunity to do so. However, it was very soon being attacked by oyster catchers, they did not like it at all so Gavin quickly brought it down again.
We went out to lunch to The White Horse, a popular seafood restaurant that is walking distance from the house. After lunch we went for a walk from Burnham Overy Staithe to the west end of Holkham beach, it is a lovely walk with many birds living in the marshes alongside the sea defence that you walk on. I noticed all the beautiful wildflowers that are blooming now, including sea lavender (see extra with Xena), sea holly, mallow, a few poppies, it's all looking so pretty.
I had a video call with my sister and her family, they are getting very excited for our visit there next month.
