Enjoying the Lakes

Today we set out to explore some more of the Lake District. We stopped near Ullswater for what we had anticipated to be a quick stop. We ended up staying for over an hour to build forts, skim rocks, sit and reflect, have feather sword fights and take some photos to blip. Following this, we headed down to road and hired two row boats to head out onto the water for a different view. The girls were a bit more adventurous than the boys… we headed off to inspect a nearby island and then came back to join the boys. I believe they were intimidated by the wind that had picked up, but it didn’t prove to be much of an issue at all. Those rowing kept themselves warm enough, but Henry, Adelaide and Jane were quite cold by the end, especially given that the somewhat inexperienced oarsmen did occasionally splash the passengers! We headed into Windermere for a yummy lunch where we all warmed up, and home via the Derwent pencil museum, which was surprisingly interesting.
