Mantelpiece with hogweed
Hogweed (or Cow Parsnip)
Heracleum sphondylium
This little triangular shelf is half of our mantelpiece: the chimney breast runs up the corner of the room, with the stove/enclosed fire set diagonally across it, so we have two little triangular shelves either side of the chimney. In winter they get quite hot, but in summer it's a nice place to stand flowers. P cut back some brambles and large weeds, and I thought the hogweed flowers were too beautiful and perfect to go to the weed heap.
