All change

I was over to R’s this morning whilst the chap came to fit the shutters in her office window, he did a great job. He was late in arriving as the roads in the vicinity were blocked by road works and an accident. I spent the morning in the house keeping an eye on Olive and the boys, so took the opportunity to measure up some material for voile curtains using their extended dining room table.

R was in Milton Keynes to speak at a conference today. B brought me a text message from her just after 7am saying that she had been unwell during the night and was in no fit state to stand up and address an audience of a couple of hundred of people. I think that she picked up a bug when open water swimming on Sunday morning, she said that the conditions were grim.

Later in the day there was a call from S to say that he was getting a train from Stafford to collect R and her car to drive her home. They were back by about 6pm and I had gone back over to feed the animals and take Olive for a walk. R went straight to bed to rest while we had dinner.

The problem of recovering S’s car which was located in Stafford Rail Station car park, was resolved when B drove S and I over to collect it.

It was almost 9pm before all of this chaos was resolved. We should have been attending the Horse Racing in Uttoxeter this evening. The local residents had received free invites to the event, but we have had torrential rain storms intermittently all day and we had started to question the sense of attending in such weather. R being unwell scuppered those plans, we may get an opportunity to go another time.

A somewhat hectic day.
