Old shop and a reindeer
Happy we headed to the church in the village, which was closed at our first attempt to visit it. We had seen the sign that it would be open between 10 and 15. But no, a new sign was up, the church was closed this week. OK, we will have to save it for another year. We looked at other sights for a few hours.
Extras: Then it was time for fika. We went to the oldest shop in Finland, Jalavan Kauppa. We had fika in the big pirtti. (It is a combined kitchen / big room for eating together, doing chores, socializing in the old historic homes). I have blipped the shop before. There is so much to look at in the shop, both among the new things that are for sale and the more antique ones that are for eye-candy. The shop is definitely worth a visit, even a detour.
Reindeer are everywhere and you always have to keep that in mind when you drive a car. On the way home we met this reindeer, just a hundred meters from the cottage we rent. Reindeer are never in no hurry from the road when you arrive. You simply have to wait until the reindeer want to leave the road. This time we only had to wait a minute. Then the reindeer stood on the lawn so nicely that I could take a photo. Please note that the reindeer is not sick, it loses its winter fur.
