Mt Kaukau

1459 ft high and we staggered 13.km and 103 floors and took about 7 hours on this adventure. Originally erected in 1965 as a TV transmitting site the tower has been reduced in height since then and is now just a pole to put microwave services on but does provide a great walking track with wonderful views of Wellington and its local wind turbine generating site to the south.. (extras) The track we took down to Crofton Downs (cafe and train) does have some fairly "hairy" bits that feature "Bum slides"  and The Boss is now fantasising about hot baths.
We did meet quite a few folk and their dogs which are allowed on the track....
