Che giorno perfetto!
Had a lovely day yesterday. I went into Leeds on the bus - it's only a fiver, though you need to bear in mind that the last bus home is at 19.10! - to meet some friends from my Italian class. It was a beautiful day and I spent the journey listening to my ipod and enjoying the scenery. The bus driver was lovely, one of those drivers who wait for the elderly people to sit down before setting off again.
The highlight of the journey was in Garforth, where a rather scruffy older man was getting off the bus with his two dogs. He'd dropped the lead of one of the dogs, and stood on it to stop the little thing making a run for it. This unfortunately for me necessitated him bending over just in front of my seat to pick up the lead - I got a bird's eye view of his very-badly-sewn-up-with-big-white-crossed-thread black trousers! I'd guess this wasn't the first time he'd dropped the lead... Still, at least the bloke smelling of wee (or worse) didn't sit next to me or in front of me, and there was no-one with a hacking cough sitting right behind me!
I had a bit of a wander through a suspiciously quiet Primark and TK Maxx at sandals, though nothing made me swoon with delight. Well, I lie - there was a pair of fabric stripy sandals by Rocket Dog in TK Maxx, but they had a funny fastening which just kept falling off...
Anyway, I had a bit of a chat on the phone with my brother, than wandered up to pub - I think I was only 5 minutes late, but I was the last to arrive! We had a quick drink in the Victoria Hotel, which looks like a really old fashioned, man's pub where the staff would frown on alcopops! We moved on to Franco's, an Italian restaurant. The food was excellent, and the wine flowed. And flowed...
After lunch we moved on elsewhere and, well, it would've been rude not to order more wine eh?! We were sitting out in the sunshine, goodness only knows what we were talking about but we laughed a lot - though that might've been the wine. All of a sudden, S noticed the time - it was 6.40 - and I had to wobble gently run to the bus station at the other end of town.
The journey home was fortunately uneventful, though the road into Monk Fryston was closed because of an accident (and I do hope it wasn't serious), so I got myself another nice glass of wine and sat out in the last rays of sunshine.
We were all in great form, and I had such a brilliant day thanks to my wonderful friends. We should do it again soon.
I think P offered to teach me how to use a drill too, but I may need to check that...

ps I should've said, this is S's photo, not mine, but she's very kindly shared it :-)
