Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly

On my way to work over the fields the thistles were full of these beautiful butterflies.  It's the first photo of a butterfly I've managed this year.

Although they are common, Google says their numbers have been declining recently.  Well, happily not today in a field near Linton.
