Flowering Rush

A local survey of a large island in the River Nene this afternoon - slightly distressing that much of it had recently been sprayed with herbicide, which caused my nose and throat to burn.

The river itself was looking lovely, with luxuriant  beds of Shining and Feenel Pondweed in the clear water and this beautiful Flowering Rush standing proudly near the bank.
