Italia Rye-grass
Back to Boothby Wildland to record quadrats in the terrestrial vegetation of the West Glen floodplain, mostly occupied by very tall unmanaged grassland or recently abandoned arable, so quite difficult to access and quite boring to record! Italian Rye-grass was a significant component of some of the samples.
The day wasn't helped by the fact that Pete realised he'd left his sweep net at home when we arrived on site, necessitating a second return trip from Peterborough to the site. It was past 11 a.m. when we started and already becoming quite hot!
We had a lovely chat to Chris and Lizzy in the evening - I can't believe they'll be back in five weeks! Chris has been quite ill with food poisoning, and lost a lot of weight, but they were still visiting all their planned destinations, just at a slightly slower pace.
