It’s raining so they made a Prime advert

I’m so touched and grateful for the supportive responses and stars and faves you have made to yesterday’s blip. If I’d not been so busy with the children I’d have answered individually.

It’s been lashing rain most of the day so not suitable for the usual playing in the woods.

This morning l, after checking Granny 2 was up for it, I took Ella and Nathaniel by car to Thropton to see Ailie. Normally we’d have walked over the moor but (a) we were short of time as Mr C needed the car to go to Newcastle to get his hearing aids and (b) the rain was too heavy. We took her sweet peas and new potatoes from Mr C’s garden, a book and a large piece of the strawberry lemon cheesecake left from last night. (Ailie and I discovered we had the same 1970s “Cooking for Compliments” from whence it came so it amused her’)

She’s got a broken nose and panda eyes, is very tired and has been quite shaken up. The children said they’d go upstairs and practice a dance routine then do a show. This meant Ailie could tell me all about the accident. Nathaniel noticed she had Alexa so they sorted out some music and did their routine. It was good and incorporated some moves from a Strictly. I wasn’t flavour of the month when I asked it it was Ed Balls Ganman style.

#2 daughter arrived with Thomas and James after we’d got home and had lunch. The A1 had been bad with standing water and she was a bit stressed about the drive home. For a treat she’d bought bottles of Prime which apparently is such an on-trend drink the schools won’t let them take it in. The children made dens and camps and played well. When they got bored I suggested they go and rehearse for a show and we’d video it. James’s brainwave was they do a video advert for Prime. It was really imaginative with singing, dancing and everybody doing a slogan about the different flavours. This still from the video is the blip.

Mr C got NHS hearing aids, having remembered to take glasses to be sure the devices would work together. He’s been warned it will take a few weeks for the tinny sound to disappear. He’s still saying “What?” but hopefully that’s habit.

My ear thing is just as bad despite having the steroid nose drops for a month now so I’ve requested a phone consultation next week with the nurse practitioner. I’m feeling generally low and out-of-sorts with the blocked-up feeling.

We had been wanting to book a trip to Socotra in January but are disappointed to find we are too old. The upper age limit is 70. We should have maybe worked that out as the company is called Young Pioneers. Of course now we want to go even more.
