2023 Saturday — A Bowlful of Cherries

I’ve never pitted cherries — ever (except when I eat them). So this evening I pitted a couple pounds of fresh Bing cherries. Tomorrow I’m going to make mini cherry pies in a muffin tin.

It all started because I listened to a podcast that revealed to me that cherries, pineapple, and apples help with decreasing arthritis inflammation. Of course eating them raw is the best way.

Previous to this event, we were tired of the fog that has engulfed us most of this day. The inland heat and the Pacific Ocean’s cold causes a wonderful cool veil, but the lack of visibility and gray can affect our mood. The temperature at the Paseo Robles airport reached a high today of 112°F. Here in Cayucos the high was 71°. And there was fog.

So we drove a few miles south thru Morro Bay and then east toward San Luis Obispo so that we could stop at the Dairy Creek Golf Course restaurant for dinner. The food was excellent, but most of all, the sunny bright countryside, the mixture of green and tawny hills, and the golfers — men, women, kids of all ages — created an enjoyable environment.

So that’s a little of what our Saturday has consisted of.
