Sunday Exercises

This morning I drove over to Cromer for a walk on the pier in the brisk wind, plus to see the lifeboat crew doing their Sunday practice. There was also a surf club doing lots of drills with their students. The little boy also made me smile, such joy in playing in the waves coming in. It was quite lovely being out on a very windy day at the beach in July.

Tennis was obviously the main order of the day, starting with the wheelchair singles, a runner up for Alfie Hewitt this time. Congratulations to Henry Searle, the first British boy to win the boy's singles for 61 years. I always loved looking in the Wimbledon programme at all the Boy's and Girl's winners who then went on to be top players and some who went on to win Wimbledon singles finals. What a cracking men's final though! A five set marathon that went down to the wire. I love the way that the 20 year old Champion Carlos Alcaraz plays by mixing up shots and pace, and how he works out how to win. I'm also glad Djokovic lost, an extraordinary player, but he was playing up again today by taking too long to serve, taking a 7 minute toilet break and then breaking his racquet against the net post. Another brilliant Championships.
