Stirling Castle and Oban
We left Edinburgh and headed across the country to Oban via Stirling Castle. The drive itself was one of the most most picturesque we have done and I thought I would have plenty to blip from that alone. However, Stirling Castle was another great stop. They have taken a more hands on approach to exploring the castle which I think the kids enjoyed. The outlook is stunning and it would have obviously served well (but not impenetrably well) as a fortress situated high in the hillside.
We met friends for dinner in Oban and enjoyed strolling home around the water back to tonight’s accomodation, which fortunately looks over the waterfront. Essy was inspired to head out to play her violin again, and this time she set up her case in case any passers by felt like throwing in a donation for her music. It was a bit of a hit, and she has more than doubled her holiday money, and she is quite pleased with her efforts! You can see her in one of the extras in front of the water.
