Life through the lens...

The rain it raineth.......

A busy morning meant I didn’t take any photos, and since lunch it has rained almost nonstop.

So thought this fridge magnet was quite appropriate.
The painting is entitled
“ The rain it raineth every day.”
Painted by Nwelyn School artist Norman Garstin in 1889.
It depicts the sea front between Newlyn and Penzance in Cornwall.
After the painting was turned down by the Royal Academy in 1889, as the jury said it was” too French” in style, the artist donated the work to Penzance TownCouncil.
It wasn’t exhibited for some time after it was acquired, due to concerns that tourists would not wish to see Penzance in the rain.
The painting is now in the Penlee Art Gallery Penzance where we have seen it many times.

Actually think the weather is better down there than in Yorkshire at the moment.
