Death Of The High Street
Falmouth is about to lose its Barclays Bank, the others have already gone, and we are left with just Lloyds and Santander.
Mobile and online banking is essentially a private matter, even between couples, so if you hit a snag much like Mrs S did today it’s a hike over to Truro, where there are still a few of the high street banks still in place, to have a face-to-face conversation.
Would it be too difficult for the banks to combine and operate a ‘financial centre’ in towns such as Falmouth where perhaps a single representative from each bank could be present to assist their customers.
Dragging ourselves into Truro using congested roads as Cornwall Council seem to close off roads at will for repairs all the while the A30 remains closed or restricted was not what we had planned for the day but we accomplished what we needed to do.
Mrs S headed off for a “Battle Nap” before her night shift, I did the housework. Then following yesterdays work a long leisurely shower was in order and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The evening wasn’t quite so good, the rugby club meeting, two and a half hours wasted.
