Not Portobello Beach Edinburgh

The old town of Bratislava is full of surprises. This 19th century courtyard leads to a 21st century retail shopping street. The old ironwork between the established past and the ephemeral retail present are summed up, for me, by this blip. Behind this building the River Danube rises visibly every hour. The temporary flood defences we saw yesterday up river our being urgently replicated here in the city today. We hope our route to the airport in the morning will not be cut off overnight. That thought is but nothing when we think of those whose homes and livelihoods are under real threat this evening from the rising waters resulting from a deadly combination of unseasonally heavy rain and rapid late snowmelt.
