Public/private space
The Rennie's Lock bridge has been closed to the public for a very long time. After a lot of renovation, it has reopened to the public as part beer garden and part public thoroughfare. It seems that Teuchter's Landing have leased the bridge for a very long time from what is now Forth Ports and it also seems that they have organised and paid for the renovation, although the page linked to says that Forth Ports are undertaking the renovation. Well, who knows.
I'm happy it's reopened, but it seems that from the perspective of those pushing buggies or with wheelchairs, access may not be optimal.
This was part of a wander around the parades of Leith, which took in the jewellers on Great Junction Street, where I got a new catch for the pendant I was gifted by Helsinki University, the Blue (Victoria) Bridge on the Shore (also under renovation, and getting closer to reopening), the market, where I saw Mel and meles, but bought nothing, and .... well, I think that's it. Oh no, I forgot. My first port of call was a new baked goods emporium called Starter apparently only open on Saturday and Sunday mornings in Mistral, a posh wine bar at the bottom of Bonnington Road (not something you expect to write very often....). I bought a very nice mushroom brioche type thing for lunch.
Since getting back from that wander, which was partly under slightly misty muzzle although the rain didn't get properly started until later, I've been at home. Peloton kept me busy for an hour. And I've done a bit of reading. But apart from that, I'm not sure where the time has gone. I feel less productive than I do in the north, where Mr A has been busy digging a hole.
