Snatchews
It's what my son called them when he was young.
These particular ones have been on the front of the Duomo, then they were taken off as rulers changed but they were preserved by sticking a metal rod in their backs and attaching them to the Museo del opera del Duomo's wall. Poor things.
Today I learnt that I don't think Donatello was as good a sculptor as they say (a better Turtle some may think). Much of his work is a bit off the beat, a bit different for the time, but maybe that's what makes him special?
Not so much walking today, it was 33 degrees for most of the day. We managed a dip in the plunge pool to cool off. Tomorrow is said to be hotter. Uffizi for most of the day so hopefully we are ok.
