Il Duomo

A quick hop to Florence. Whilst Vienna was spacious, refined and the buildings made mostly of marble, Florence is cramped, much older and so very, very, very hot.

I've struggled to stay cool today. Its 9.45pm and still 29 degrees.

The Duomo is gorgeous but I'm agog at the number of people trying to get in with shorts and strappy tops on. Did their mothers not teach them respect? Agnes would be do proud of me! Go large on the roof freize if you can.

This evening we climbed the 414 steps of the Campanelle Tower. I didn't think I was going to make it, the heat, my old bones.... the views and wind were spectacular.

Tomorrow gets hotter and hotter. I've got a tin of juice from the freezer at my neck(I cant bring myself to drink it), the air con on and a fan 2 inches from my face. Holy Mother of God I may soon melt.
