Same Old Spike ...

...with new eyes. He still gets prednisone and antibiotic eye drops four times a day, plus antibiotic and prednisone pills, but the antibiotic is only for another couple of days and he's tapering off the prednisone. His personality is intact and the end is in sight. What a difference it made to be able to take the cone off. He immediately regained his echolocation bearings and no longer hesitates at stairs or doesn't have to be lifted into the car anymore...a blessing for John's back!

The picture of the new ottoman will have to wait, because I can't add it to extras. I still have plenty remaining but when I click on the box, nothing happens, and I can't drag it into the box. Anybody have any idea what is going on?

It's been another 100 degree day, so I spent the morning cooking for a couple of salads while it was relatively cool and we can eat them tonight while we watch the last of the Tour de France. We watched Stage 18 this morning when the breakaway survived almost to the end, and one member, Kasper Asgreen, of Denmark hung in there and won the stage, seconds ahead of the peloton. The breakaway was never more than a couple of minutes ahead of the peloton, which seemed to be trying. to catch them but just couldn't close the gap and enable a sprint finish but I imagine they were just too tired! It's been really difficult this year with a lot of twists and surprises....

I read in the paper this morning that Our favorite French Bakery, Sarmentine, is expanding and adding a second location in the Barlow. They only opened in 2021. For some reason I thought they had been there for years. I hope they don't get over-ambitious and, er, bite off more than they can chew. It's a wonderful discovery and we're thinking of a little outing there tomorrow morning...early.

We miss having our wine on the porch, but it's too hot, so we'll sit and put our feet up on the new ottoman.
